Here are some guidelines for selecting and keeping therapists...

  • Intervention is typically anywhere from 20-40 hours a week. Most therapists work in 2-3 hour shifts. That sounds like a lot, but it is the amount shown in the literature to be effective.
  • How many you have depends upon availability, etc…However, I would make sure each therapist works a minimum of one shift per week.
  • Sessions should be run in multiple areas of the house, as well as outside in the community. Please don’t use only a special “ABA area”.
  • Most entry-level therapists earn anywhere from 10-12/hr
  • More experienced therapists earn from 15-20/hr
  • Look into your insurance, FSAs, etc… to see what they might reimburse you for.
